Granducato di Toscana anno 1793, nei campi di vite viene rinvenuto un cadavere avvolto nei tralci. Il padrone di questi campi nonché signore del castello che domina il territorio (castello fondato su una antica abbazia) dedice di investigare e per farlo si avvale dell’aiuto di Vitale Federici.
Il precettore di presenta al castello seguito dal suo devoto discepolo Bernardo della Vipera ed inizia ad indagare.
Tutta la storia di svolge tra misteri e colpi di scena ed è abbastanza coinvolgente (nonostante non sia di lunga durata).
Anche in questo caso Simoni sfoggia tutta la sua capacità letteraria (come ha già fatto per i romanzi “Il Mercante di libri maledetti” oppure “L’abbazia dei cento inganni” e molti altri recensiti da me in questo sito) e coinvolge il lettore dalla prima all’ultima riga.

Grand Duchy of Tuscany, 1793. In the vineyards, a corpse is found entwined in the vines. The owner of these fields, as well as the lord of the castle that dominates the territory (a castle founded on an ancient abbey), decides to investigate and enlists the help of Vitale Federici.
The preceptor arrives at the castle accompanied by his devoted disciple, Bernardo della Vipera, and begins his investigation.
The entire story unfolds amidst mysteries and twists, and it is quite engaging (despite not being lengthy).
Once again, Simoni showcases all his literary prowess (as he has already done with the novels “The Merchant of Cursed Books” and “The Abbey of a Hundred Deceptions” among many others reviewed by me on this site) and captivates the reader from the first to the last line.
