Ci sono voluti dieci anni ininterrotti di guerra e di sangue, di amori feroci e di odio inestinguibile, per sconfiggere i Troiani.
Ora Odysseo deve rimettersi in viaggio con i suoi uomini per fare ritorno a Itaca, dove lo attendono la moglie fedele e il figlio lasciato bambino.
Ma il ritorno è una nuova avventura: Odysseo deve riprendere la lotta, la sua sfida agli uomini, alle forze oscure della natura, al capriccioso e imperscrutabile volere degli dei.
Vano è disporre gli animi alla gioia del ritorno: l’eroe e i suoi compagni dovranno affrontare imprese spaventose, prove sovrumane, nemici insidiosissimi come il ciclope Polifemo, i mangiatori di loto e poi la maga incantatrice che trasforma gli uomini in porci, i mostri dello Stretto, le Sirene dal canto meraviglioso e assassino…
Il multiforme Odysseo, il coraggioso Ulisse, l’astuto Nessuno dovrà raggiungere i confini del mondo e addirittura evocare i morti dagli inferi, sperimentando lo struggimento più immedicabile al cospetto di chi ormai vive nel mondo delle ombre, e ancora finire su un’isola misteriosa dove una dea lo accoglierà e lo terrà avvinto in un abbraccio dolcissimo e pericoloso per lunghi anni… Poi, finalmente, con il cuore colmo di dolore per i compagni perduti lungo la rotta, ecco compiersi il ritorno.
